The future of fencing and gate training in Australia has taken an important step forward with the official launch of the BuildSkills Australia Fencing and Gate Industry Project.
The project brings together industry stakeholders to explore the development of nationally recognised training products that better reflect the skills, knowledge and workforce needs of the modern fencing and gate industry.
For many years, fencing and gate businesses have recognised the need for structured training pathways that recognise the specialised skills required across the residential, commercial, industrial, rural, and security fencing sectors. The project provides an opportunity for industry to help shape future training products that support workforce development, career pathways and long-term industry growth.
The project follows the successful development and endorsement of Australia’s first nationally recognised fencing training product, the Agriculture and Rural Fencing Skill Set, which demonstrated the value of industry-led collaboration in addressing workforce capability needs.
Over the coming months, BuildSkills Australia will conduct industry consultations and engagement to better understand current and future workforce requirements. Feedback from contractors, manufacturers, suppliers, training organisations and other stakeholders will help inform the development of potential skill sets, units of competency and qualifications relevant to the fencing and gate industry.
